Dear, Me....xo, Me. ...My New Years Tradition

Dear, Me. Love, Me.

A Letter from 2025.

My favorite end of year exercise is writing myself a letter about the coming year. I write it as if what I wanted has come to pass. For me, this is a quick way to understand what I want to experience in 2025.

(Don’t forget to include a few WIGs - Wildly Improbable Goals.)

WIGS are things that you’d love to see come to pass, even if it’s not likely. They help you stretch your imagination and dream a little bigger. You can start your letter with these prompts, or you can use your own ideas.

Dear Me,

Wow, what a year! As I sit here on December 31, 2025, toasting a glass of __ with __ and __ , I think back on all that happened with a lot of joy.

First, in 2025, my overall theme was __. I was able to__

My trip to _ was __ and even better because we __!! Can you believe it? It was really special to ___. And I was so happy that __.

My friends are doing well, and together we started__. That was amazing and helped us feel__. We really made a difference in how _____. It’s just the beginning.

I know my commitment to ___ is stronger than ever, and that showed because this year I __, __ and __

At work, I really wanted to . That happened, and it went really well because I __. Turns out that because of my work __, and ___. I learned so much about __.

In my community, I committed to __ and I did that by __. __ and __. I’m proud that we were able to ____.

One of my longtime wishes of ___ was finally completed by ___. This was cool because __.

I also started __- which has been a dream for a long time. And I did a great job continuing with __. I’m glad I kept building on my progress there - not perfect, but i’m showing up and I’m noticing more and more.

I’m healthier than ever because I finally __. That had a great impact in that. I’m now not only ready but actually looking forward to ____.

Of course, I had a few wildly improbably goals (my WIGS!) You know, I’ve always wanted __. Well, that happened in an unexpected way! And at work I thought it would be wild to finally ___. And turns out that’s how it went!

Wow. There’s so much more to share and appreciate but mostly I am appreciative of myself and the way I stuck with my values and took action on my dreams. Cheers to me and a great 2025.

Love, Me.

“Build Trust” is a mantra you hear in newsletters, on LinkedIn posts and in common wisdom. That makes sense. We want to work with folks we can trust. We want to be trustworthy. But, sometimes, life happens. We miss the deadline. We step on toes. Maybe forget a promise made. Stuff changes, we strike out. What do you do to fix it?
