Living what I'm giving. In other news: Growing Pains are Painful.

Well, I've had a behind-the-scenes project.

I’ve been working to bring you a podcast for a few months now. I have great stories, amazing insights from my generous guests who have made big changes in their lives. I’ve been talking to people who evolved professional experience into new ventures and new pathways…

…and I gotta tell you.

It’s hard to be a beginner. Podcasting is a new thing for me.

I love learning! Using new technology, getting into making something again is quite an adventure. Learning and growing are also quite humbling.

I’ve had to live the guidance I give my clients. Living what I talk about with my clients is meaningul because I know it works.

It’s simple but it’s not easy.

Here’s what I keep telling myself....

I’m a beginner.

I have to acknowledge I’m learning. it’s not going to be easy (yet) as I learn new terms, technology, and process. Giving myself the grace of being able to learn without expecting myself to be an expert on day one.

I need help.

I can ask for help from folks who have been there. Advice, support, referrals, resources are all usually a phone call or text away. Say what you will about the Information Age, but there's an upside in the fact that “there’s a YouTube video for that”. My friends and contacts are usually eager to help if they can. Just ask.

I need to take action to learn.

It’s easy to ponder the pros and cons. It’s easy to think and daydream and analyze and break it all apart to ensure you are getting it right… Sometimes it’s easier to stay somewhat stuck and low-grade miserable rather than taking action. Unfortunately, there’s no substitute for taking action and getting feedback in order to build more knowledge.

My growth can be uncomfortable

This one pains me to type because it seems like an understatement. Uncomfortable? How about "excruciating" or "unbearably frustrating" or "jam-packed with humility"? When we’re growing, we’re quite tender, vulnerable and sensitive. Take a deep breath. Take a break. But keep at it.

I’m building resilience

All of the above can be true and I will learn and grow. I will get better. It will get easier. Resilience is remembering that you aren't there YET but you're continuing to get up, dust yourself off, and try again.

I’m not comparing journeys

I'm focusing on my lane. I'm focusing on my work. Keeping my eyes on my own paper. When it comes to making changes or building something new, comparison is the thief of joy (and all that). The bar of satisfaction that I set is my own bar.

Maybe you’re in that moment, too? Dropping into fast changing times, pondering what’s next, in the messy middle of a professional phase.

We’re living in times that bring big change to your doorstep. Its unavoidable. The podcast is about how we manage change, channel the currents and use uncertainty to our advantage. I can’t wait for it to launch!
